Reimagining Illumio's documentation experience.
Overview
In summer 2026, I worked as a Technical Design Intern on the Documentation team at Illumio, a cybersecurity company specializing in zero-trust microsegmentation. Illumio helps organizations visualize, segment, and contain risky network activity to prevent breaches and limit their impact.
The Documentation team creates the content that guides users through installation, troubleshooting, and product use cases. As part of the founding design team, I had one goal: optimize the documentation experience through intuitive, engaging design without compromising technical accuracy.

While I completed numerous designs while interning, the projects I had more fun with include an interactive Onboarding Azure user journey and a high-level overview of our new product, Insights.
Onboarding Azure
This page features three onboarding paths for connecting your Azure account to Illumio. Special features include special illustrations, anchor links and accordions.
API Doc Design
In partnership with the UX team, I designed an API Documentation page where users can browse 300+ endpoints and test their own API requests.

This page introduces users to Illumio Insights. Special features include an illustrative banner, onboarding cards, and new video library feature with customized thumbnails.
